Federal

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) is represented in the Federal Parliament by two Senators in the Upper House, and three Members in the House of Representatives in the Lower House. This Voices group is focused on the federal electorate of Fenner.

The federal electorate of Fenner

The proposed redistribution for the federal electorate of Fenner covers much of northern Canberra, including the districts of Gungahlin and all of Belconnen, except for Bruce, Lawson, Giralang, Cook and Aranda. Fenner is named after distinguished Australian scientist Professor Frank Fenner. See the AEC proposed electorate map for Fenner below. The current Member for Fenner is Andrew Leigh.

Territory

The ACT Legislative Assembly is made up of five multi-member electorates. This Voices group is focused on two ACT electorates, of Ginninderra, and Yerrabi.

ACT electorates: Ginninderra and Yerrabi

The ACT electorate of Ginninderra covers much of the Belconnen district, including suburbs such as Aranda, Belconnen, Bruce, Charnwood, Cook, Dunlop, Evatt, Florey, Flynn, Fraser, Hawker, Holt, Kaleen, Latham, Macgregor, Macquarie, McKellar, Melba, Page, Scullin, Spence and Weetangera. The ACT electorate of Ginninderra takes its name from the Ngunnawal word, meaning "sparkling water", referring to the Ginninderra Creek. The current Members for Ginninderra are Yvette Berry (Labor), Tara Cheyne (Labor), Peter Cain (Liberal), Chiaka Barry (Liberal), and Jo Clay (Greens). The ACT Electorate of Yerrabi represents the rapidly growing communities of Gungahlin and surrounding areas. This includes suburbs such as Amaroo, Bonner, Casey, Crace, Forde, Franklin, Gungahlin, Harrison, Jacka, Moncrieff, Ngunnawal, Nicholls, Palmerston, Taylor and Throsby. The ACT electorate of Ginninderra takes its name from the Ngunnawal word, meaning "to walk" or "to go", and is associated with the Yerrabi Ponds waterway. The current Members for Yerrabi are Suzanne Orr (Labor), Michael Pettersson (Labor), James Milligan (Liberal), Leanne Castley (Liberal), and Andrew Braddock (Greens).
