We are residents of Belconnen, Gungahlin and the surrounding suburbs who believe our communities deserve better representation than the party-based system is currently delivering.
We come from different backgrounds, have different life experiences and different political leanings. We all however, share a common belief: that we can, and need to be, more connected to the political decisions that shape our lives.
Our small group of locals first came together in January 2026 to discuss what alternative, and more active independent representation could look like for Fenner (Federal), Ginninderra and Yerrabi (ACT). Inspired by other 'Voices of' type movements, we have been growing steadily ever since.
Right now we are in listening mode. Our purpose in this first phase is simple: to understand what people in our community are experiencing, what they need from their representatives, and whether there is genuine appetite for something different.
Over the coming months we will be hosting a series of open community conversations across Belconnen and Gungahlin - respectful, inclusive events where people can share their concerns, their priorities, and their hopes for the future.
There are no predetermined outcomes here. This is entirely community-led, and what happens next depends on what we hear from you. If those conversations reveal sufficient momentum for change, we will begin exploring options for independent candidates in Fenner (Federal), Ginninderra and/or Yerrabi (ACT).
Ultimately the group, alongside community members, aims to assess, endorse and support suitable candidates. We hope that by July 2026 we will know whether our community is ready for something different.
If you'd like to help shape that answer, we'd love to hear from you. Complete our short survey or sign up to get involved.
